HOUSING, LAND AND PROPERTY CHALLENGES AND RISKS facing Syrian refugees in Lebanon in the light of growing pressure towards return
The findings of Sawa’s latest research report, entitled to which your major contribution is highly appreciated, under the title “Housing, Land, and Properties Challenges and Risks Facing Syrian refugees in the Light of the Growing Pressure towards Return.” Where it discusses the layered two-sided legal vulnerability Syrian refugees in Lebanon have been subject to in both Syria and Lebanon, which portends further risks on Syrian refugees’ HLP rights. This is in the light of mounting pressures “pushing factors” to return to Syria—without achieving the protection thresholds that guarantee a safe, voluntary, well-informed, and dignified return. This report aims to better understand the challenges and risks of housing, land, and property (HLP), with a view to building and raising awareness about relevant actual barriers to return and access to information about housing, land, and property rights of Syrian refugees. Contributes to advocating specific HLP challenges, findings, and recommendations among stakeholders involved in the issue of safe, dignified, and voluntary return. The project directly benefits CSO participants who are actively involved in working on HLP issues among Syrian refugees and IDPs.
